Do other markets allow local restaurants to attend their market?
A number of Farmers’ Markets encourage local restaurants to have stalls at the farmers’ market as a way to increase diversity of products. Where there is a large demand for space at a farmers’ market, restaurants are generally selected based on their use of local products as ingredients in their foods. This in turn is used as a marketing tool by the restaurants to further promote their business.
Some restaurants may ask to attend the market on a one off basis to give out free samples. This is generally not encouraged as it does little to promote the market and is actually persuading customers to buy prepared foods from outside the market.
