What do other markets charge as their annual membership fee and what do they offer in return?
Dear Board Member,
Market membership fees are highly variable. They range from $10 to $50 (mostly $10 or $25). Some smaller farmers’ markets with no formal structure don’t change a fee at all.
Membership benefits include voting rights, reduced table fees, better locations and/or fixed location, first option on special markets, parking, the right to carry other local producers products, listing on the market website and listing in marketing materials.
In addition, some markets charge an initial ‘join fee’ of $25 to $100. Others charge $100 for a share in the market that is then refundable should the vendor leave.
